On Brown Day, the students listened to the story The Gingerbread Man. After reading the story, I surprised the students with a gingerbread man that I had made for them at home...all we had left to do was cook him and decorate him. While he was cooking in the oven, the students created their own gingerbread men from construction paper. The had a lot of fun making him fancy with frosting (white crayon) and buttons. Once we were finished with our construction paper gingerbread men, we decided we better go and take the real gingerbread man out of the oven. We were shocked when we opened the oven door and there was no gingerbread man to be found!! Off we went on a search around the school looking for our lost friend. We looked in the office with the secretaries, we looked in the nurse's office, we looked in principal's office, the third and fourth grade neighborhood and the first and second grade neighborhood, but our gingerbread man was no where to be found! So, sadly, we walked back to our room and to our surprise.....there was the gingerbread man waiting for us!! He had tricked us!!! After finding the gingerbread man in our classroom, we frosted him and decorated him with lots of M&Ms and boy was he yummy!! =) |
