Meet C.Q.

When the students came into the classroom on Monday morning there was a special letter waiting for them....a letter from a frog named C.Q. (curiosity and questioning)  C.Q. wrote to the students with questions like, what do children look like?, how big are children? and do all children look the same?  He also sent us a picture of himself so we were able to see what he looked like too.  As a class, we decided we needed to compare C.Q.'s picture to a picture of a student in our class...we decided to draw Jayda.

After drawing Jayda and placing the picture next to C.Q., we made a T-chart showing how Jayda and C.Q. are alike and how Jayda and C.Q. are different.  We decided sending the picture of Jayda, along with the T-chart back to C.Q. would be helpful to answer his questions....BUT, before we could do this, we decided it would be important to do what "good" authors do and label both pictures.  Once we were finished, we decided it would be fun for everyone in the class to make a labeled self portrait to compare with C.Q.!  It was a lot of work, but we had fun doing it!
