More Fire Safety...
During class time, we practiced how to stop, drop and roll and how to crawl low under smoke.  While practicing what to do if our clothes were on fire, the students had fire taped on their backs.  When it was their turn, they would stop, drop and roll until the fire came off. The students covered up their faces to prevent them from getting burned by the fire.

During the crawl low under smoke activity, the students would crawl to the classroom door and check the door temperature with the BACK of their hand.  If the door was hot, they had to crawl under the smoke to the window in the classroom, but if the door was cool to the touch, then they were able to open it and walk out.  The students knew if the door was hot or cold by whether or not they saw fire taped to it.
