At the end of the month of January and the beginning of February the students in my class started Book Club Plus.  We focused on the book, A Little Bit of Winter.  In the story, Rabbit is sad because Hedgehog is going to hibernate and he didn't want to miss him.  Hedgehog asks Rabbit for a favor and writes a note on a tree so Rabbit won't forget, "Dear Rabbit, Please save me a little bit of winter for when I wake up.  Love, Hedgehog"  Hedgehog had never seen winter before and wanted to know what it was like.  When Hedgehog went to sleep Rabbit noticed the message left on the tree and decided to save a snowball for Hedgehog.  He wrapped the snowball in leaves so it wouldn't melt and stored it in his burrow.  When spring finally arrived, Rabbit shared his snowball with Hedgehog and the two friends celebrated the change in season together.

Making the characters of Rabbit and Hedgehog to use for retelling.
