Storm Lake Elementary

Storm Lake Elementary is sooooo excited about the implementation of Character Counts into our school!  The program is based on the six pillars shown above.  During the month of February, the students will be working on the CARING pillar.  Whenever a student is caught doing a CARING act, they will receive a red ticket.  After collecting 10 red tickets, the students will be allowed to turn them in for a red CARING bracelet.  The goal is to collect a bracelet from each pillar.

Below are pictures from an CARING kick off assembly held on Friday January 28th.  All students were asked to wear something red!
Teachers demonstrate acts of CARING.

Look at all the red!!!

We survived 100 days of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Thursday, January 27th the kindergarten students at Storm Lake Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school.  We made 100 day hats in the morning with 100 stickers and then partied in the afternoon with 100 day centers.  Each child was able to put together a 100 piece puzzle, complete 100 exercises, build with 100 blocks and eat a "100" snack made from marshmallows and pretzels.  We had a blast!!!  Only 80 days to go until summer is here!  Wow, time flies when your having fun!!

On Monday, January 17th we celebrated Martin Luther King day by reading books, making protest signs with the vocabulary fair and unfair and by completing a service project.  As a grade level, we decided to create place mats for the residents of Methodist Manor for our service project.  The students made "winter scenes" for the residents to enjoy while they were eating their lunch and dinner.  Here are a few pictures of the students working.
